About Miss Drew (She/Her)
 

Drew Brown is a dance educator and choreographer from Muskegon, Michigan. Her passion for dance has taken her through years of training, performance, choreography, and teaching across a variety of styles including jazz, tap, hip-hop and other related street styles, contemporary, lyrical, ballet, and musical theatre. Throughout her training she has attended numerous conventions including Nuvo, Monsters of Hip-Hop, and NYCDA. Drew also competed at many regional and national competitions, consistently earning top 5 placements and title awards. She also explored breaking and other various street styles, which grew into a particular passion for hip-hop, its foundations, and the culture and history behind the movement.

Drew began developing her voice as a choreographer and educator during her teenage years, assisting with classes, creating choreography, and working with younger dancers. Since then, she has continued to teach and choreograph for students of a wide range of ages and experience levels, with a focus on creating intentional, well-crafted choreography and meaningful learning experiences.

Drew graduated from the University of Michigan in 2026 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Media Studies and a Minor in Dance. Through her dance studies, she explored dance pedagogy, choreography, and dancer kinesiology, developing a deeper understanding of both the artistic and educational sides of dance. Her studies helped shape her approach to teaching, allowing her to combine technical training with an understanding of how dancers learn, move, and develop. During her time at U-M, she also performed and choreographed with multiple dance organizations, founded and served as Executive Director of VYRL Hip-Hop, performed with RhythM Tap Ensemble, and contributed to the university dance community through choreography, creative direction, leadership, and event production.

Drew is currently continuing her professional development by pursuing the Certificate in Dance Education through the National Dance Education Organization. Through ongoing professional development courses, she is expanding her knowledge of dance education and continuing to develop her teaching practice.

As a teacher, Drew strives to create an environment where every dancer feels comfortable learning, experimenting, and developing their own artistic voice. She believes dance education should extend beyond technique, fostering confidence, discipline, creativity, and a genuine appreciation for the art form. Her goal is to inspire dancers to challenge themselves, find joy in movement, and develop a lasting connection to dance.
