About Miss Kassie (She/They)

Kassie Keil is a dancer and choreographer based in Ypsilanti, Michigan. They graduated from Ohio University with their BFA in Dance Performance and Choreography in 2020. Their work is concerned with visceral emotionality, authentic embodied experience, the joy of musicality, and feeling alive. While attending college, their solo Exposure was presented, informally, at American College Dance Association’s East Central conference in 2018, as was their group work Leaves and solo In the Blue Dark in formal concerts in 2019 and 2020 respectively. Exposure was also presented at Eisenhower Dance Detroit’s 2018 NewDanceFest in addition to their group work Hidden and Seeking, created through EDD’s Emerging Choreographer program. Kassie has attended intensives with David Dorfman Dance, as well as performed in their work Finding Fire at Ohio University. Additionally at Ohio University, they performed in and directed rehearsals for Alexandra Beller’s work The Journey Here was as Long as it was Wide, but Taller. Most recently, their solo Half Breed won the Ypsi Dance Swap, an Ypsilanti based choreography showcase. Kassie is currently entering their fourth season as a professional company member with Fun Girl Dance Company and School, where they also assistant teach and choreograph.
